Wages Optimization (3) - Analysis

Today, in bobymoore’s hattrick blog, we have a closer look at the wage usage of some teams in our first division in Luxembourg. Of course those teams are very much still maturing but with 2 years playing they represent interesting data.

This article is the third of the series which started with:
- Principles of wages optimization: where you should start to optimize your wages
- Preparing a budget for your team: knowing when to stop buying new players

Wages Optimization (2) - Budgeting

One interesting way to define your hattrick team budget for the coming seasons is the Income Statement, which offers a good overview of Revenues and Expenses and allow to understand the balance of the items that constitute the economy of your club.

Competitive Training (2)

The next article on competitive training continues with trainings which don’t have as much share in the hattrick world (winger, set pieces, stamina, general, passing), however this might change…

Competitive training (1)

Before going deeper in wage optimization, it is interesting to understand the aspects of training at high levels or simply when the league you are in is very close.

The goal of the below listing is not to consider the money you can make from training one or the other skill but more, to find out what are the main consequences of choosing a training type from a tactical and general strategy point of view. I have assumed in the below that you are trying to train the maximum number of players in that skill.

Wages optimization (1) - Principles

Since the player salary reform, high level hattrick teams have been battling with the high wages of their most skilled players. The impact of wages is such that many teams are now counting very carefully all cash they put in the salaries.

How to beat Spora

Spora is the reference in Luxembourg, with the most national titles and a team that seems unbeatable for most of the teams who cross its way. In the last 10 months over the year 2006, Spora recorded only 3 losses! A figure that none of us will ever achieve. Of course, many are trying to copy its style to try to achieve the same success however it is most likely that way that you’ll always follow and never beat zuzut’s galactic team.

Supported teams

Racing Trieux Pays Haut (since 2004, France, V.109 - Claudio_canigia) - Colleague of mine, doing well in France, started with defending training and skill trading, has now established himself in one of the top french 5th divisions

Max Pils United (since 2004, France, V.17 - Brianmolko76) - Doing quite well, he chose offensive tactics as his trademark but it is difficult to settle at the top of his division, but i am sure that with patience he will succeed in there.

Lux Allstars (since 2005, Lëtzebuerg, III.3 - TopChris) - A friend of mine who is battling his way up with an offensive team

Avenir Mamer (since 2005, Denmark, V.156 - Ostekiks) - I remember our first contact on IRC i was really wondering who this danish guy was. It turned out to be a great guy ready to serve our country and buying luxembourgish players for insane prices. He is our well known current U20 coach and trainer of various national players (Robi Kirsch, Carlo Drescher, Valery Morain, Josy Eiffes, Chris Miller…), sacrificing part of his team success for the country he used to live in, before settling in his home country

Yateley Warriors (since 2006, England, VI.540 - Speightmeister) - I am eager to see how this ex colleague of mine will be doing in the next seasons as he is a football expert and routined manager

FightClub Football Club (since 2006, Lëtzebuerg, Nationaldivisioun - DurdenTyler) - Ex-U20 coach, Tyler has been a hard worker for both the national teams and his own team. I expect that he will gain some national titles in the very next seasons

Scarpone Squadron (since 2006, France, II.3 - kaius) - An IRL sport freak, who also happens to be what I believe is the brain that helped zuzut’s success. His recipe consists in first having good midfield / attack, reducing wages with national players, and then concentrating on the additional aspects a player can bring (specialties, secondaries, xp)

BMC (since 2006, Lëtzebuerg, III.8 - hassoun) - my boss, and i am not kidding ;)

FC Vompatti (since 2006, Suomi, Mestaruussarja, Ratsia) - not only do I share most of his views on the game of Hattrick, but he is also an incredible good poster on the conferences. His posts are clear and full of great information. His success is of course very impressive, and based on some principles like: strict wage control, players with high secondaries and of course the adequate mix of specialties and experience in local players when possible. I also share is view on the fact that secondaries are highly underrated by most managers and thus not trained enough.

A special comment to Morsure who introduced me to the game and who i really miss in there, but i can understand that he left after playing such a long time

My ideal U20 candidate

With the elections for the U20 coach approaching everyone has to think about the characteristics of the ideal candidate. Here is in my opinion the key strength a manager should have to fulfill the demanding role of U20 coach:

Game changes, Tool changes

As Hattrick is evolving, the way I play the game is evolving and therefore the tools i use are also evolving.

As i dont do skill trading anymore, i use far less PSICOTSI that i used a lot to check the main-skill sub-level of many players, I also stopped using an offline tool that allowed mass checking of main-skill sub-level for transfer listed players.

I still use HAM which is not perfect and especially lacks new developments. It has basic features for reviewing the team training progress, match analysis and economical situation.

I use htratings, to help preparing the tactics for the next games and has also some interesting tools to review special events, chances of getting a red card.

Using firefox for web surfing, foxtrick is an obvious choice to have an improved view of data which i really lack when i am browsing through hattrick pages when i dont have it.

If you believe some superior tools exist, please dont hesitate to comments this post!
