Interview of Ostekiks just after his election at the head of the U20 team!


Bobymoore> First of all, again, congratulations to you.
You already presented yourself as part of the elections , but what didnt you tell in this presentation ?

ostekiks> Thank you. Well , first off I didn’t mention my second team in Luxembourg and the one in France and.. ;-) no, seriously. I think I gave a thorough presentation of all the things hattrick is to me. The most obvious part I left out would be my twisted idea of humour. I would rather avoid to disgrace the Luxembourgish hattrickcommunity by association with some ill chosen remarks that might only be funny in my head. :)

Bobymoore> Where does your user name ‘ostekiks’ come from ?

ostekiks> Ooohh..haha. Thats a long, nonsensical story.. The word is danish and means ..small crackers/kekse you eat along with cheese.. When I first had to choose an internet nickname back in.. ‘94.. I was hanging out with 2 other weirdos. One of the two decided, completely out of the blue, to tell the rest of us about the other day when he had been watching his grandfather sleeping in a hammock.. this grandfather had been talking in his sleep about food - “smørrebrød” - ie. bread with different kind of rather traditional and normal toppings..he was going “yummy…smørrebrød with potatoes…and cucumbers..and..oh..OH..MMMMHHH! OSTEKIKS!” in his sleep. Now..in itself..that is not funy.. but it was so absurd at the time; why did the guy want to tell us that? why was he watching his grandfather in his sleep? and how can the grandfather dream about such a boring dinner and be so enthusiastic? The whole situation was so absurd that it was spinning in my head for several days , and it just happened to be one of those days where I had to choose a nickname. :) The nick has later stuck, my family actually refers to me as “osten” - “the cheese”, nowadays. :)

Bobymoore> Ok lets come back to hattrick now :) What is your greatest achievement in the game ?

ostekiks> I have always been fascinated by the national players and decided early on that I would try hard to bring one of our young talents up to international level. I managed to find a young winger that was /almost/ good enough to be considered for the national squad, so I kept Valery Morain around and trained him hard until he managed to get his debut international match. :) That day I was happy. After this the highlight must have been the time my team got to be the home of Robi “Rocki” Kirsch. I take great pride in having had such a great player on my squad.

Bobymoore> What are the main reasons for you being elected ?

ostekiks> The main reason I was elected? I think my genuine interest in our national teams combined with my longterm dedication in the nationalteam federation gave me the backing that allowed me to run a succesful election campaign.

Bobymoore> Do you think our U20 will be succcessful eating only Pizza and beer as you recommend in your club?

ostekiks> No no , to be a healthy player your diet needs to consist of all three layers of the foodpyramid - pizza and beer is only the bottom two levels. The players will still need the top level - kachkéis.

Bobymoore> How many wingers and wingbacks will there be in your team (just checking) ?

ostekiks> Disclosing nationalteamsecrets in a public interview is bad style - just think of what happened to Sven-Göran ;-)

Bobymoore> Anything funny to add ?

ostekiks> funny? asking me to be funny is a disaster waiting to happen. noone likes my jokes… what? you want a joke?..okay, you asked for it.. “So.. this guy walks into a bar.. his friend, however, ducks”.. or how about this one: “So…this baby seal walks into a club…” See what I mean? I’m not funny.
